Altria Client Services’ role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Legal Specialist, Labor and Employment Practices to join our Law Department in Richmond, Virginia.

The successful candidate will provide advanced legal support services and analysis to attorneys, the Human Resources & Compliance function, and business clients at all levels regarding the application of state and Federal labor and employment laws and regulations to the hiring, development, retention and performance of the diverse workforce across the Altria family of companies.

Specific accountabilities include:

* Collaborating with business clients and outside vendors to understand the hiring and recruiting needs of multiple companies and managing the legal review process for job postings, recruiting materials, selection systems, adverse impact analyses, and new hire on-boarding.
* Preparing Litigation Hold Notices for employment disputes and coordinating with business clients and outside counsel in the execution of document and record preservation, collection and production for all docketed matters and providing extensive support and assistance in witness and trial preparation.
* Providing technical and specialized legal support on several critical work streams within the HR

Experience and Qualifications include:

*A Bachelor's degree and relevant certification strongly preferred, plus a minimum of 5-10 years of previous relevant work experience gained in a law firm or business setting advising and/or supporting analytical legal work in labor and employment matters for Human Resources and senior business clients 

*Broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of legal analysis and specific knowledge of laws, principles, and regulatory requirements applicable to labor and employment (e.g. OFCCP, DOL, EEOC).

*Strong skills in prioritizing multiple tasks and in issue spotting and resolution

*Working knowledge and experience applying advanced concepts and legal analysis 

*Advanced critical thinking skills applied in the interplay between business proposals and existing legal and business infrastructure 

*Demonstrated ability to use independent discretion and judgment with respect to matters of significance that are often complex and highly sensitive in nature 

*Engagement and collaboration skills applied in a diverse, collaborative environment that includes attorneys, other legal analysts, and business clients.

*Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

*Advanced analytical skills, including computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word

*Ability to interact and influence results at all levels within and outside of the company
