Production Attorney The candidate will be responsible for overseeing production legal on several projects in various stages of development and production at the same time. Will be structuring, negotiating and drafting of deals relating to the development, production, acquisition and distribution of various types of programming content, including unscripted, magazine-style web shows, original live action web series, "reality" shows, transmedia projects and traditional tv/film development. All production legal needs, including clearance matters, drafting and obtaining releases, negotiating and drafting talent/crew, venue and vendor agreements, guild issues, insurance issues and evaluating rights/chain of title. Providing support and counsel related to the advertising, marketing and promotions functions of the business, including contests and sweepstakes, as well as day-to-day corporate legal matters. Advising and supporting legal affairs team, senior management and producers.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. degree from an accredited law school; with strong academic performance. Should be licensed to practice law in the State of California. Must have 4+ years of legal practice at a television or new media company or comparable experience within an entertainment law firm. Experience with television production preferred. A strong working knowledge of intellectual property (particularly copyright and trademark), defamation, right of privacy and right of publicity laws is needed. Should have excellent drafting skills.
