Legal Secretary The candidate provides specialized to advanced support to supervisors, in-house Colleagues and outside law firms in order to meet the administrative needs of the department. Duties typically include: preparing and filing confidential legal correspondence, contracts, memoranda, reports and various other types of business communications utilizing advanced features of word processing and other software packages specifically oriented to the legal field, maintaining hard copy and electronic files, entering time slips; Depending on which attorney is being supported, responsibilities shall also include: assisting on and/or independently handling all aspects of contracts preparation, review and/or filing, and Sharepoint related tasks under direction of company's legal counsel for contracts and transactions; or all aspects of compliance with the federal and state securities laws, including preparation of all SEC filings, working with outside legal counsel as needed, compliance tasks associated with the Company's compliance programs as well as, general compliance duties under the direction of SEC legal counsel. Confidentiality and personal integrity are essential.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 5-7 years of legal and administrative experience. 3 years of insurance industry experience preferred. Should have basic knowledge and understanding of corporate organization. Excellent oral and communication skills required. Must possess proficient to advanced skills in Microsoft Windows Programs: Word, Access, and Excel and Timeslips program. Proficiency with PC Windows-based software, including Excel, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office applications is needed. Strong knowledge of legal and insurance terms is essential. Basic knowledge of accounting functions required. Experience with business writing is needed. Knowledge of AFG products/services preferred. Knowledge of governmental bodies and agencies, including court systems is must. Depending on attorney supported, familiarity with contracts work and/or contracts management systems highly preferred, or with county agencies, state and municipal agencies as well as, knowledge of federal regulatory agencies, such as the Securities Exchange Commission.
