Assistant United States Attorney
The candidate will work in the Civil Division. Will represent the United States' interest in the trial and appellate courts for a wide variety of state and federal litigation, including bankruptcy, civil rights, commercial, employment, environmental, federal program, fraud, immigration, prisoner, social security, summons enforcement, tax, constitutional, medical malpractice, and general tort cases. Defend the United States' interests in that litigation, but also handle some civil rights enforcement matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the Bar (any jurisdiction), and have 1+ year of post-J.D. experience in the legal field. Litigation experience in employment discrimination, torts, Administrative Procedure Act cases, federal litigation, and/or a federal judicial clerkship is desired. Travel within and outside the District may be required, but should be minimal.
