Interns have the opportunity to observe the legislative process in-person while assisting staff with the daily responsibilities. A typical day consists of answering phones and explaining the senator's position on current legislation, reading and sorting through constituent mail, undergoing the Congressional Research Service training and Congressional Historical Interpretative Program training, leading U.S. Capitol tours, interacting with constituents in the front office, assisting staff with various projects, and attending committee hearings and other educational events. The candidate should have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
Duration: September-December.
