Advocacy and Policy Counsel The candidate will draft policy analyses designed to effect change. Will develop and produce advocacy tools to assist staff and volunteers with their advocacy. Establish contacts and interviews with local residents. Develop expertise in key civil liberties issues with regard to immigrants. Work with the programmatic department directors. Identify and investigate litigation opportunities.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a law degree and 2+ years of legal experience. Texas Bar license is preferred. Should have experience working in political, policy, legal, or government settings. Must have exceptional ability to conduct legal analysis and research. Should have experience coordinating local and state advocacy priorities. Familiarity with constitutional and civil liberties issues is preferred. Excellent research, writing, analytic, and communication skills are needed. Should have strong and demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and social justice issues. Familiarity with immigrant rights issues preferred. Must have both oral and written fluency in Spanish.
