Job Profile. Manager, Labor Relations
The candidate will execute labor relations strategy in the field at the direction of the Group Director, Labor Relations Field Operations. Will provide support to the Region Labor Directors and the labor function generally in the areas of contract negotiation, contract administration and positive employee relations activities. Serve as the "utility player" in the labor relations function and will negotiate contracts, assist in contract administration issues such as grievance tracking/processing, support the company's positive employee relations efforts and perform other duties as assigned. Provide essential bench strength for the labor function and serves as a training role for future Region Labor Relations Directors. Assist Region Labor Relations Directors in executing labor strategy and all field activities within the Regions or for functions. At the direction of the Region Labor Relations Directors execute contract preparation and act in the capacity of lead negotiator or second chair in negotiation of select labor contracts as assigned. Partner with company lead on all pre/post NLRB petition communication campaigns - build credibility with employees, maintain good morale amongst employees, gain trust of management, supervisor/manager/employee training sessions. Provide coaching and counseling support to local management in the labor relations area. Execute effective training tools and conduct training for employees and managers in labor relations area. Work closely with Group Director, Labor Relations Field Operations and Region Labor Relations Directors to proactively respond to labor issues, management/labor councils, and mediations and arbitrations. Assist in execution of strike contingency planning processes and tools - pre-planning, logistics, personnel pool, accounting and payroll, and overall communication during work stoppage. Responsible for assisting Region Labor Relations Directors and LRSs in managing grievances utilizing established grievance processes. Assist in preparing for arbitration and other administrative agency proceedings in the Region as needed. Develop strong working knowledge of labor law practices and current events in the field. Assist in major investigations and fact finding on employee and labor relations issues within the Region.
