Job Profile. Paralegal/Legal Assistant II
The candidate will be responsible for digesting and indexing legal documents. Assisting attorneys with case organization and trial preparation. Using of computer technology in support of investigations and courtroom presentations. Trial preparation to include copying, document review, document organization, bates stamping, legal research and searching documents in Concordance/summation/relativity. During trial, the candidate will load documents to and run Sanction presentations. Digest and index legal documents. Conduct witness interviews. Communicate with other DOJ components, Federal agencies and others as required in the course of investigations and litigation, respond to citizen and congressional correspondence, respond to citizen phone calls. Work under the direction of a Project Manager. Following established guidelines, gather, prepare, summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in preparation of opinions, briefs and other legal documents; summarize depositions and other transcripts, maintain case files, perform simple legal research, index, track and control, exhibit and other materials at depositions and at trial. Assist attorneys in courtroom, prepare exhibit cross-references. Screen documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. Perform initial compilation of documents for FOIA or production requests, subject to review by superiors and trial staff. Trial preparation to include copying, scanning, document review, document organization, bates stamping, and searching documents in Concordance/Summation. Travel for trial preparation and trial.
