Job Profile. City Attorney
The candidate will serve as legal advisor to all offices and departments of the City. Will represent the City in all litigation and legal proceedings either personally or through delegation to assistants and/or outside counsel. Draft, approve, or file written legal objections to every ordinance adopted by the Council. Review for approval of documents, contracts, and legal instruments in which the City has an interest. Appoint Assistant City Attorneys as authorized by the City Council and supervise such Assistant City Attorneys. Hire and oversee outside counsel as needed and as authorized by the City Council.
