Senior Litigation Paralegal Duties: Will handle factual research and investigation; cite check and shepardize; coordinate document productions; summarize depositions for litigation practice group; draft pleadings, discovery, petitions, proofs of claim, applications; maintain docket/tickler systems for filing/action deadlines; prepare documents for filing with state, local and federal agencies; draft transactional documents; draft partnership agreements; assist in real estate transactions; administer trusts and estates; assist with pension plan Administration; and handle other substantive tasks that do not require a law degree. Execute tasks requiring analytical ability and discretion, including, as one example, direct Communications with the firm's clients.<br /> <br /> Requirements: Senior Paralegal should possess at least one of the following or meet any standard required by state law: A certificate of completion of a Paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association; a degree from a post secondary institution with a minimum of 24 units in law-related courses accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization as required by State law; completion of a four year college degree plus a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of a licensed Lawyer as defined by additional state law requirements, as applicable; or a high school diploma plus a minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of a licensed Lawyer as defined by additional state law requirements, as applicable. The candidate must have 4+ years of experience in a Paralegal position in addition to other stated educational requirements. Must possess outstanding references from previous employment as a Paralegal if prior experience was outside of company. Should have experience as a senior Paralegal in the relevant practice area in performing Associate-level tasks with the exception of the following which are prohibited: Establishing attorney-client relationship; giving Legal advice or counseling clients about Legal matters to include the negotiating of fees and rendering of Legal opinions, appearing in court as part of the Judicial process, taking depositions, and any and all actions perceived as engaging directly in the practice of law. The candidate must have 4+ years of experience in a Paralegal position in addition to other stated educational requirements. Must possess outstanding references from previous employment as a Paralegal if prior experience was outside of company. Should have experience as a senior Paralegal in the relevant practice area in performing Associate-level tasks with the exception of the following which are prohibited: Establishing attorney-client relationship; giving Legal advice or counseling clients about Legal matters to include the negotiating of fees and rendering of Legal opinions, appearing in court as part of the Judicial process, taking depositions, and any and all actions perceived as engaging directly in the practice of law. Has a dedicated work ethic, recognizes that sometimes it is necessary to take on extra tasks, work weekends or outside normal work hours in order to meet client/firm needs. Should be a team player. Should be comfortable in both leadership and subordinate roles and is able to operate effectively in both positions. Should be able to follows-up on assignments in situations where there is little or no guidance; structures a system from minimal instruction; and strives to submit a flawless work Product. Good communication skills. Should be able to work cost-effectively; using the appropriate resources; knowing when to inform a Supervisor of a situation; and understanding the boundaries of the practice of law. Has leadership and Management skills to supervise and train Legal clerks and Paralegals.
