Manager, Labor Relations The candidate executes labor relations strategy in the field at the direction of the Group Director, Labor Relations Field Operations. Provides support to the Region Labor Directors and the labor function generally in the areas of contract negotiation, contract administration and positive employee relations activities. Serves as the utility player in the labor relations function and will negotiate contracts, assist in contract administration issues such as grievance tracking/processing, support the company's positive employee relations efforts and perform other duties as assigned. Assists Region Labor Relations Directors in executing labor strategy and all field activities within the Regions or for functions. At the direction of the Region Labor Relations Directors, executes contract preparation and act in the capacity of lead negotiator or second chair in negotiation of select labor contracts as assigned. Partners with company lead on all pre/post NLRB petition communication campaigns - build credibility with employees, maintain good morale amongst employees, gain trust of management, supervisor/manager/employee training sessions. Provides coaching and counseling support to local management in the labor relations area. Execute effective training tools and conduct training for employees and managers in labor relations area. Works closely with Group Director, Labor Relations Field Operations and Region Labor Relations Directors to respond to labor issues, management/labor councils, mediations and arbitrations, etc. Assists in execution of strike contingency planning processes and tools - pre-planning, logistics, personnel pool, accounting and payroll, overall communication during work stoppage, etc. Responsible for assisting Region Labor Relations Directors and LRSs in managing grievances utilizing established grievance processes. Assists in preparing for arbitration and other administrative agency proceedings in the Region as needed. Develops strong working knowledge of labor law practices and current events in the field. Assists in major investigations and fact finding on employee and labor relations issues within the Region.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree. A J.D. degree and/or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Labor/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, Political Science, or Economics fields would be preferred. Must have 3+ years of relevant labor relations or human resources experience or relevant course study at accredited and recognized academic institution. Experience in human resources, labor negotiations, contract administration and/or NLRB campaigns is preferred.
