Paralegal
The candidate will provide professional paralegal and some administrative support for SVP and VP/Associate General Counsel, and Director in preparing drafts and review legal agreements, performing legal research, performing a variety of both complex and routine duties requiring knowledge and understanding of legal work in the area of entertainment and publication law. Will provide legal review of production legal binders for completeness and accuracy in database, enter rights and contact information for both production related agreements and distribution agreements into database. Proofread contracts and provide assistance in managing drafts of contracts in the course of negotiations and assistance in the preparation and distribution of markups of drafts. Maintain legal contracts/releases in TRIM. Respond to inquiries from staff regarding contracts and other documents. Create and edit agreements in Jaguar. Review NGHT legal binders, interpret contracts for legal rights information, ensure accuracy of rights information into database, locate missing legal documents, enter missing legal information and restrictions, i.e. rights, releases, contracts, into database. Interpret and enter NGHT Distribution Agreements into database. Perform legal research on intellectual property, contract matters, privacy matters, administrative agency regulations, various court procedure requirements , international law and various state statutes. Research, collect, compile, analyze and prepare legal information and data for reports and memoranda. Must have 2-5 years of paralegal or other comparable legal experience of which 2 years are in the area of contract law on an exclusive or almost exclusive basis. Recent law school graduate will be considered. Should have legal research skills including proficiency in use of Lexis, Westlaw, legal texts and employment-related databases.
