Job Profile. City Attorney
The Waco City Council is seeking applications from experienced, client-focused attorneys who are comfortable and skilled at viewing issues from a city-wide perspective and interested in serving as the Waco City Attorney.
Key duties of the City Attorney position include: Serving as legal advisor to all offices and departments of the City; representing the City in all litigation and legal proceedings (either personally or through delegation to assistants and/or outside counsel; drafting, approving, or filing written legal objections to every ordinance adopted by the Council; reviewing for approval of documents, contracts, and legal instruments in which the City has an interest; appointing Assistant City Attorneys as authorized by the City Council and supervising such Assistant City Attorneys; and hiring and overseeing outside counsel as needed and as authorized by the City Council.
