Claims Specialist - Miscellaneous Professional Liability Claims
The candidate will work with minimal supervision and handle a book of all professional E&O lines claims (including Lawyers Professional Liability and Architects and Engineers) throughout the entire claims life cycle. Responsible for conducting investigations, setting adequate reserves, monitoring, documenting, and settling/closing claims in an expeditious and economical manner within the established authority limits for the line of business. Will analyze, investigate, and evaluate the loss to determine coverage and claim disposition. Utilize CMS to document claims and to diary future events or follow-up. Within prescribed settlement authority, establish appropriate reserves for both indemnity and expense and reviews on a regular basis to ensure adequacy. Make recommendations to set reserves at appropriate level for claims outside of authority level. Prepare comprehensive reports as required. Identify and communicate specific claim trends and account and/or policy issues to management and underwriting. Manage the litigation process through the retention of counsel. Adhere to the line of business litigation guidelines to include budget, bill review and payment. Pro-actively manage the case resolution process. Actively participate in mediations and arbitrations, as well as negotiation discussions within limit of settlement authority. Participate in the claims audit process. Provide claims marketing services by meeting with brokers, risk managers and reinsurers. As required, maintain insurance adjuster licenses. |

| Qualification and Experience |
|
The candidate must have a J.D. degree. 7 + years of legal/claims experience, with 2+ years of within professional E&O lines is required. Advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques, to include coverage issues, and product line knowledge is needed. Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions is required.
