Junior Medical Malpractice Paralegal The candidate will organize documents and coordinate document productions for discovery. Will work on bates-stamping, redaction, duplication,indexing and summary of documents. Create privilege logs for attorney review. Organize large document production. Draft Interrogatories, Request for Production of Documents and Requests for Admissions and Answers thereto for attorney review. Produce electronic and written discovery responses. Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts and visual timelines. Order and comprehensively organize medical records. Conduct various document searches and factual research. Create and maintain internal case databases, run searches on internal and external document databases and systems, cull relevant information from a variety of resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations.Exceptional research utilizing research software. Research only pertains to laws and statutes but can also include important facts related to the case. Prepare client, witness and matter materials for case preparation. Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation. Organization of witness notes in preparation for affidavits and drafting client or witness affidavits for attorney review. Follow up and coordination with clients to locate and produce all responsive discovery. Prepare for and attend depositions. Under attorney supervision, and on anas-needed basis, gather and prepare documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, take notes and handle exhibits during the deposition and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding. Draft deposition summaries for attorney use in motions, trial, etc. Pull relevant documents, pull and organize exhibits and create document indices, tables of authority and tables of citations in preparation of the filing. Draft Subpoenas Duces Certificates of Authenticity, Notices of Depositions, Witness Subpoenas, Trial Subpoenas and foreign subpoenas for United States District Court and state courts for attorney review. Coordination with and liaison to process servers to locate and serve witnesses. Follow up with all witnesses to secure attendance or production of documents. Work with attorneys and support staff in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Familiarity with E-filing and court filing fees for Maryland and the District of Columbia. Create, bind and distribute both file and courtesy copies. Organize the briefs, exhibits and appendices as needed. Act as liaison among various internal departments as well as Federal and State agencies and all courts. Oversee the progress of documents through litigation support departments, where applicable, order transcripts from reporting services and fulfill requests from outside counsel and others. Coordinate with court reporters to order transcripts as needed. Prepare for and attend evidentiary hearings, arbitration and trials in State. Organize exhibits, files and all other supporting documents with support staff. Including electronic exhibits, deposition designations, 911 audio and video. Coordinate trial set-up, acting as the managing point person for logistics. Mark exhibits, create blow ups, Power Points, timelines and other visuals and coordinate production with vendors as needed, assist attorneys in the court room by taking notes, handling exhibits, and marking documents referred to by counsel, assist in the preparation of witness testimony and serve as liaison between trial attorneys and in-house staff. In addition, maintain trial exhibits admitted list for Plaintiffs and Defendants during and after trial. Liaison with experts and all witnesses to secure preparation and attendance. Review all charges with clients and explain. Liaison with vendors regarding charges and payments. Negotiate liens or other charges as needed. Draft settlement statements and review with attorneys and clients. Knowledge of subpoena service rules and fees for Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia and neighboring states is essential. Should have 2-3 years of experience in medical malpractice and be professional in appearance and demeanor.
