The firm offers a competitive salary that is based on a set, lock-step scale. 1st year associates at Arnold & Porter receive a top notch benefits package, which includes a salary of $160,000 per year, 4 weeks' vacation per year, full health benefits, life insurance policy, 6 weeks parental leave, and 18 weeks maternity/adoption leave. In 2012, the summer associate salary was US$3,080 per week. Among other compensation the firm offers bar stipend, clerkship stipend and moving expenses. The firm also gives bonuses to all eligible associates. Bonus are determined on the basis of hours billed, quality of work, pro bono hours and business development and the associate's overall contribution to recruitment activities and firm committees. The firm offers eighteen weeks of paid leave for maternity and adoption, and six weeks paid parental or paternity leave. In addition, the firm provides $5,000 for adoption costs with no lifetime maximum benefit and its insurance coverage includes fertility treatments with a benefit up to $30,000.
