Do your best and ask lots of questions, they will help you get acclimated however they can. You will learn a lot here.
I was only hired on for a temp position, but my time spent here was well worth it. I learned so much while working here.
The permanent positions are hard to come by, so if you need a long-term job, this might not be the best place for you.
Keep up the good work.
Partners care about the careers of associates and mentor them. There is a lot of focus on firm culture and cutting edge technology.
Some of the attorneys were high maintenance and difficult to work with. High level performance is a constant requirement.
If you are a hard worker, professional, and enjoy an atmosphere where you will be compensated well, you are ready to work here.
Several years ago, this firm had a bad reputation for staff. I honestly believe all of the issues have been resolved now. Administration does its best to engage with the staff and to keep up with the changing times. Don't get me wrong, this is still a firm where integrity, rules, regulations, and professionalism are very important. Things to consider if you want to work here: the firm still gives out yearly discretionary bonuses (which a lot of firms aren't doing any longer); the firm still gives out yearly raises (which a lot of firms have not done in a while); the firm is not a sweat shop or run in a factory style way by any means; the insurance and benefits are good; the firm is constantly doing events to engage the staff and also does a lot of charitable work and family events. Having said all this, as with many large firms, it really depends on personalities and who you get to work with on a daily basis. For me it has been great and I get to come to work and enjoy the time I spend with my co-workers and professionals.
* 4 attorneys/secretarial staff - but all firms are going into that mode * paralegals have to bill anywhere between 1500-1600 billable hours - but I believe there are firms that require more * the process of getting hired can be a bit overwhelming
