Pro bono

Seyfarth Shaw is committed to play an active and positive role in the communities in which it works and lives. The firm actively believes in taking measures and initiatives to help fellow citizens and give back to communities which cannot actually afford legal services.

The firm takes a holistic approach to give back to the communities by integrating their pro bono legal services along with charitable giving, community service and sustainability activities. Seyfarth has a pro bono and philanthropy department, which consists of a partner and a coordinator dedicating their time to promoting as well as managing the pro bono and related programs.

The firm believes in the threefold philosophy of compassion, action and impact, wherein it cares about its communities and the planet itself. The approach that the firm follows is a veritable example of how it carries out core innovation and uses its resources constructively to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Seyfarth strongly encourages its attorneys and staff to donate their time to help the community, whether as volunteers, fundraisers, board members or participants. The firm has a strong community building program and annually gives two Seyfarth community service awards to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to give back to the community and make a difference to the lives of community members. These awards - the Unsung Hero award and the Inspirational Award have gone a long way in motivating community members towards a range of community service activities. Every firm member is eligible and each winner receives a cash award of $1,000 and a $2,500 donation for his or her chosen charity.
