Stop misleading people to come over and make money for you.
a couple nice people in support staff in tampa
I made a move to start a practice area after 14 years at another firm. Brought all my own clients over for what looked like it would be comparable money assuming the same amount of collections. The firm has an awful structure that results in a lot less money going in the lateral partner's pocket at the end of the day. The salary projections are a total illusion. I brought over lots of work and understood it would take some time to build up collections. Nevertheless, tax decisions and business structure never allowed me to catch up. The firm had a difficult time keeping me with attorneys and paralegals. They ultimately refused to replace an associate who left for another firm even though it was always absolutely understood that I needed that position filled. They even let me put an ad out, interview for the position, and find someone, but just refused to actually make any offer at all. Resulted in me being understaffed. It was beyond the point of outrageous by that time. I always had plenty of work, the firm just refused to get me the help I needed. Of course, my practice suffered greatly. To top things off, the equity partners at the firm voted me out as a partner, effective January 12, 2024, with no stated reason, no complaints whatsoever about my work product (despite being understaffed), no complaints about my ethics or behavior whatsoever to my knowledge. Now, the firm is even refusing to pay me for collections made in 2023 unless I sign a ridiculous release and confidentiality agreement in their favor with liquidated damages that would exceed what I would even net after taxes, even for a harmless accidental breach. I went to the firm because I thought there appeared to be a fair path to equity partnership. Unfortunately, my experience at the firm was awful and was not at all what I anticipated from 10-15 meetings with management before going over. Looking back at what was promised to me to entice me into making the move vs how it ended - a private, unilateral vote, with no stated reason, to deprive me of 40 or so precent of what I earned in 2023 feels like an astounding betrayal on a very deep level. That's especially true as my family fell apart towards divorce during the difficult 2.5 plus years there.
All equity partners. The path to get there is brutal.
Getting ready to sue them now with multiple grounds.

The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. Along with investment banker Ken Langone and merchandising guru Pat Farrah, the founders’ vision of one-stop shopping for the do-it-yourselfer came to fruition when they opened the first two Home Depot stores on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. The first stores, at around 60,000 square feet each, were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition and stocked 25,000 SKUs, much more than the average hardware store at th...
