Institute a formal training program. Encourage people to cooperate and actually talk to each other. It's 2017. Treat women as equals.

Flexible work options including the ability to work from home. Required amount of billable hours is comparable to other firms this size.

There isn't much mentorship going on or defined procedures related to advancements and raises which can leave you feeling adrift and completely alone. This place has a rather prevailing sexism problem.

Diversity Write a review

Blank Rome's true capital is human capital. We offer innovative and imaginative solutions to the complex needs of our clients through the intellectual power of our lawyers and professionals, informed by their diverse attributes, backgrounds, and experiences.

On the Side of Inclusion

Blank Rome was formed in 1946 by lawyers who-because of their religion-were barred from joining many established law firms. The founders' vision for the Firm was of a place where people of diverse backgrounds could gather to practice law.

The Firm's diversity and inclusion goal is threefold: (1) to make Blank Rome a place where everyone can do their best work; (2) to make Blank Rome a place where everyone can bring their "whole selves" to work; and (3) to attract and harness our diverse talents and competencies to enhance the Firm's client service.

The team working on our diversity initiatives reports directly to our managing partner. With the support of Blank Rome's Diversity Cabinet, the Firm's Chief Officer of Diversity & Inclusion and the Firm's Diversity Program Specialist, we are carrying out initiatives to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion. These initiatives include recruiting and mentoring, opportunities for networking, participation in programs for career development and advancement, and outreach to the communities in which we have a presence.

The Firm launched firm-wide affinity groups for lawyers: Attorney of Color Affinity Group, the Women's Forum, and the LGBT Affinity Group. The affinity groups provide a forum for our women and diverse lawyers to network and exchange ideas. Members of the Diversity Committee are active participants in, and sponsors of, each affinity group.

Our affinity groups host dinners, receptions, and other events throughout the year that offer diverse lawyers and professionals the opportunity to build and strengthen relationships among our offices.

Summer associate program

Blank Rome LLP is exceptionally proud of its top-notch summer program. Our success is a reflection of both our dedicated recruiting committee and the commitment of our attorneys who provide Summer Associates with meaningful work opportunities, including attending client meetings and closings, along with significant professional and social interaction. Our program provides a rewarding and realistic introduction to the practice of law at Blank Rome. Summer Associates have the opportunity to select challenging assignments from all of the Firm's practice groups. Attorneys designated as Summer Program Co-Chairs ensure that all Summer Associates receive constant, meaningful feedback. Additionally, each Summer Associate is assigned an Associate and Partner mentor, who serve as an invaluable resource for questions regarding assignments, the Firm, and protocol. The Firm also offers extensive developmental training programs.
