make the bonus system more transparent, set up better training programs if you continue to want to take in new attorneys, give the associates more say-so in how the firm is run
Big deal fortune 500 clients, experienced attorneys, friendly co workers, nice office, great location in downtown Chicago, early substantive experience because of the smaller size
Very hard to get training as a younger attorney, partners can be very demanding, bonus system is black box and hard to determine why a bonus was or wasn't given, associates aren't given much input
No specific partners to avoid, as it depends very much on department. The "partnership" as a whole can be intimidating as an associate, as the firm is somewhat hierarhicial
The staff is all quite friendly, the experience is super for a firm of this size, and the work is often very interesting (entertainment clients). Social events are often quite fun as well.

At Neal Gerber Eisenberg, pro bono work is a cornerstone of our mission. Stepping beyond our day-to-day practice not only sharpens and extends our legal skills, it also increases our engagement with the communities in which we live and work. The firm has established the goals that each of the firm's attorneys will devote at least 50 hours per year to pro bono, and that the firm averages at least 50 hours of pro bono service per year per attorney. All associate hours spent on approved pro bono work count as billable time.
