Clerkships may include client and witness intake and interviews, bail review, discovery analysis, legal research and writing, analysis of evidence, motion practice, and assisting with plea agreements, trial preparation and sentencing argument preparation. All work is supervised by public defender staff attorneys.
Interns' responsibilities will vary. Will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for organization and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a Congressional office.
