Planned Giving Director Duties: Under the supervision of the Senior Director - Major Gifts, will be responsible for planning and implementing estate planning programs to promote deferred giving by alumni, faculty and friends of the College and Hospital; will manage the Planned Giving Advisory Council; will work in tandem with the Major Gift Directors to identify, position and close planned and life income gift arrangements; will identify, cultivate and solicit planned gifts through individual meetings with faculty, staff, alumni, donors and volunteers. Use resources in an efficient and cost-effective manner. understanding of the complex principles and techniques associated with planned giving and estate gifts, have the ability to share this information with other Development Office Fundraisers and with donors. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the strategic clinical and research priorities of College and Hospital. Manage a Planned Giving Program, including processing of stock gifts, facilitation of life insurance premiums and gifts, bequests, planned and life income gifts, in conjunction with the Office of the General Counsel and the Business Office. Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective planned giving donors; secure a 120+ annual visits or tours; and annually close 15+ planned or life income gifts. Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and volunteers; meet with these constituents to explain and secure planned gifts. Serve as a central resource, working across all development units and centers to identify, cultivate, position and close planned and life income gifts. Author annual operating plan; review and evaluate planned giving policies and procedures; make recommendations for improvements to the estate planning program; compose memoranda of understanding, and letters of direction, among other documents. Develop and implement marketing strategies including newsletters, seminars and articles for publication. Properly record information about prospects and donors utilizing appropriate College databases; report activity and monitor resources and expenditures associated with his/her program and portfolio. Manage and staff the Planned Giving Advisory Council; hold 3+ meetings annually. Develop, coordinate and execute gift planning and investment seminars that will be presented to constituent groups throughout the Academic Medical Center, and at other College and Hospital events, of 4/year. Work with the Planned Giving Advisory Council professionals, and other affiliated professionals, to develop these seminars and serve as speakers. Maintain knowledge through continuing education and conferences on planned giving and fund raising. Participate in advancement activities and events, including dinners, receptions, and other fundraising initiatives. Prepare and work within division budget. Working hours can include nights and weekends.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years related experience. JD Degree, CPA, CFP or CFRE helpful. Experience related to planned gifts, fund raising and/or Financial Planning. 8+ years of successful fundraising planned giving or financial planning experience and a proven track record of closing planned gifts. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral, as well as a high level of sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings. Curiosity and analytical thinking, global perspective; complex problem solving; ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously with close attention to detail, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment. A general level of comfort when dealing with high net worth individuals, and an ability to maintain discretion and high level of confidentiality when dealing with significant benefactors. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, community and academic leaders in a team environment. Capability and willingness to quickly learn MCW’s and Hospital’s histories, missions and the MCW regional campus programs. Comfort with using personal computers, tablets and software programs for retrieving, organizing, researching and presenting appropriate donor/prospect information; proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Raisers Edge a plus. Knowledge of planned giving techniques and software, and of tax laws. Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidences. Familiarity with the mission and operations of MCW and Froedtert Hospital. Excellent written communication skills required, ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience both orally and in writing. Spreadsheet and database software experience required. Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented, team-based environment required. Experience with fundraising databases. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness.
