ProfileSenior Manager of Public Policy Communications The candidate will report into our corporate communications team in Seattle. Will effectively manage a small team. Develop and manage a broad range of external communications programs and events in support of firm’s public policy goals. Establish and foster local, regional and national media relationships by serving as a trusted source and educator about firm;Seek out and/or create opportunities to further firm’s engagement in strategic public policy and corporate reputation issues. Actively promote firm’s presence in the technology policy community. Deliver communications counsel to firm executives on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities, earning trust with executives across many parts of firm’s business. Drive issues management programs with a public policy component and serve as key communications counselor on crisis issues. Prepare firm executives to serve as spokespeople on a wide range of issues and also serve as a spokesperson Think and communicate clearly – formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written narrative to express it. Develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges. Deal with ambiguity – form a cohesive and effective outcome from potentially incongruous facts (or lack thereof) and individual perspectives. Roll up sleeves and get work done, even when at times it’s outside the scope of the job. Pay painstaking attention to important details. Advanced degree, such as a JD degre or Master’s degree in Public Policy is preferred. Should have Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of public relations experience. Communications experience with public policy issues in technology, operations, and/or government is essential. Experience serving as a spokesperson on complex issues is essential. Should have excellent writing skills.
