Tax Associate Director Duties: Responsible for Company’s global transfer pricing processes, external reporting and risk-management. Finance “point person†on day-to-day transfer pricing matters. Keeps abreast of global transfer pricing laws and sets Company’s global transfer pricing policies to remain compliant while optimizing the Company’s effective tax rate (ETR). Prepares intercompany legal agreements to support our policies and cross-border dealings. Regularly interacts with global Controllers as well as Legal and Logistics departments. Works with regional tax advisors and government examiners to resolve global transfer pricing controversies. Establishes, implements, and enforces Company’s global transfer pricing policies. Manages and coordinates the intercompany transfer pricing and related data gathering function for all Zimmer companies on a worldwide basis. Manages the global transfer pricing documentation function. Monitors global transfer pricing laws and reporting requirements to ensure Company mitigates its tax risks, minimizes its ETR, and maintains proper and timely documentation. Manages the analysis and setting of intercompany transfer prices by liaising with local country/ regional financial controllers and operations personnel. Develops processes to regularly monitor subsidiary-level profits to ensure policies and pricing achieves the agreed upon objectives. Coordinates with the International and Tax Reporting Directors to ensure transfer pricing decisions allow the Company to meet its near- and long-term ETR objectives. Analyses, documents and manages tax risks in accordance with US GAAP (“Uncertain Tax Positionsâ€) related to implementation of Company’s transfer pricing policies. Provides technical support for US (federal and state) and foreign country audit defense. In limited cases may represent Zimmer as in-house tax counsel. Stays current with respect to US and foreign tax law changes and tax alerts, relevant to area of responsibility. Builds awareness among Company personnel of existing and proposed tax laws related to transfer pricing that may impact Company’s financial results. Maintains database of material intercompany agreements, identifies circumstances in which an intercompany agreement is required, and works with Legal to execute such agreements. Coordinates appropriate use of outside tax counsel and economic advisors. Provides advice on associated tax issues, such as permanent establishment, taxable presence and customs.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in accounting or business, or post-graduate degree in business, tax or law are preferred. 10+ years of significant global transfer pricing experience, primarily in the context of a US-based multinational firm. Working experience in dealing with (implementation of) Cost Sharing Arrangements and the (process) documentation and monitoring thereof. A strong understanding of US (federal and state) and International transfer pricing laws principles, as well as a working knowledge of basic transfer pricing-related economic and US GAAP accounting principles. Strong analytical, interpersonal, project leadership and resource management skills. Ability to manage and mentor personnel. Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
