Tax Resource Attorney The candidate will work with the Director of Library and Knowledge Services and the Tax Partners to define, create, implement and promote Knowledge Management (KM) tools, resources, systems and processes. Will also manage communication and training efforts related to Tax KM and perform research on precedents, tax, legal or business topics to assist the attorneys. Collaborate with Tax Partners and attorneys to design effective KM systems and processes. Identify documents, contacts, resources and other knowledge for inclusion in KM systems. Create, update, and manage forms, checklists, presentations and other KM resources. Track legal and regulatory developments. Develop and manage matter and transaction lists. Provide ongoing individual and group training on internal and external knowledge resources and best practices. Develop instructional programs and materials. Draft and disseminate communications to promote knowledge management tools and services. Assist with preparation of memoranda on legal issues and legal developments for internal communications, CLE programs, presentations at practice group lunches, client alerts, and pitch materials. Respond to attorney requests for research on forms and precedents, and partnering with the library information specialists on resource decisions and research assignments. Perform tax, legal and business research using internal and external electronic resources. Lead the requirements gathering and documentation efforts for KM initiatives. Communicate user needs effectively to the Information Technology Department and working jointly to design, develop, improve, or purchase technology tools to support KM initiatives. Manage the classification, organization, and online access to various information resources. Develop and manage taxonomies, controlled vocabularies and database architecture for KM systems. Keep KM projects on schedule using project management tools and techniques including timelines and calendars. Develop and track budget expenses for projects, applications and staffing related to KM. Provide reports to management on the status of KM initiatives. Implement quality controls and reviews to ensure that search systems retrieve relevant, accurate and appropriate documents. Develop check systems to ensure that restricted documents are appropriately secure. Regularly review online content for copyright and licensing compliance. Create and monitor metrics, usage reports and other measurements to evaluate effectiveness of information platforms and content. Should have a J.D. degree. Must have 3+ years of corporate tax practice experience, preferably within a large law firm. An in-depth understanding of tax law and corporate transactions is required. Should have advanced research skills, including knowledge of Lexis, Westlaw or other online legal databases.
