Tax Senior Manager The candidate will be providing tax opinions, which involve tax analysis of a transaction; advising on the desirability of obtaining tax jurisdiction rulings; and assisting clients in securing private letter rulings from tax authorities to obtain assurance and confirmation of the desired tax consequences of a proposed transaction. Will be assisting companies undergoing tax examination by tax authorities or in the courts, providing tax audit risk assessment services with respect to potential challenges by tax authorities, helping companies understand the level of risk associated with transactions, and computing potential interest and penalties associated with tax authorities’ audit and assessment adjustments and potential settlements. Automatic and non-automatic accounting method changes, meals and entertainment studies, research credit studies and Section 199 studies. Provide timely and high-quality service and work products that comply with client expectations. Build client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business. Help develop and guide staff and other junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and making certain team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals. Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply skills to moderately complex situations. Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products. Contribute to the overall success of the team by developing a thorough understanding of firm's methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery. Proactively seek opportunities to provide tax services that challenge traditional procedures used in the past and attempt to find new approaches. Generate new business opportunities by developing ideas and new approaches and leveraging networks across other firm service offerings and geographies. Should have bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 8+ years of relevant federal tax experience. 4+ years of recent experience with a public accounting firm is preferred. A valid US CPA license or licensed attorney designation is essential. Broad exposure to federal income taxation is essential. Familiarity or skill in IRS tax controversy and statistical sampling is desired. Excellent managerial, organizational, project management, and verbal and written communication skills is essential. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access and data mining tools is essential.
