Vice President, Securities Finance Tax Manager Responsibilities: To provide comprehensive technical operational tax support and internal advice to the SF lines of business, including legal and compliance teams. Operational taxes could be defined as including (i) cross-border withholding taxes pertaining to dividend, interest, capital gains, business profits, other income or ordinary income (ii) transfer taxes (including relevant FTT and stamp duties) and (iii) other applicable direct or indirect taxes. To provide internal guidance and technical support with respect to the application of FATCA, 871(m), and other tax regulatory regimes to capital market transactions. With regard to new or incremental product initiatives and requirements, analyze and establish the current tax position, compile tax-related requests for external legal and tax advice, liaise directly with external legal and tax counsel, conclude the technical operational tax analysis and draft the tax section of the Product Development (“PDâ€) memo and Product Oversight Committee (“POCâ€) tax submissions. Present findings as necessary. Attend PD, POC, and industry meetings as needed. Participate in industry committees to drive key tax initiatives. Work closely with internal corporate tax, legal (contractual negotiations), compliance and custody teams. Daily monitoring of any relevant international tax developments and where required, advise the SF businesses accordingly. Where necessary, assist and manage the implementation of cross-border tax changes such as internal system changes and client communications, etc. Attend product structuring, client and counterparty meetings where necessary.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree or CPA desired; LLM or MST a plus. 7+ years of related international tax experience with major accounting or law firm, or equivalent industry experience. Experience with multi-national financial institution. High focus on tax-related risk management. Excellent time management organizational and communication skills. Commercial thinker and strong multi-tasker.
