Tax Consultant Duties : The candidate shall advise Williams and/or Williams Partners Management (“Management†is meant to include Corporate Development or others requiring tax advice) on U.S. federal tax issues related to M&A activity of both the corporation and the publicly traded partnership. Advise Williams and/or Williams Partners Management on federal tax issues associated with the conduct of the business or the publicly traded partnership. With support of outside advisors, provide Williams and/or Williams Partners Management advice with regard to transactions and operations outside of the U.S. Provide technical support to the Federal Income Tax Compliance function as required. Monitor U.S. federal income tax changes that could have a significant impact on Williams or any of its businesses, including new legislation, IRS guidance and federal case law.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate should have Bachelor's degree and 10 years in the public or private sector providing corporate tax planning advice regarding U.S. federal tax matters. Proven ability to effectively interact at the senior management level. Ability to effectively work with a team of other professionals in evaluating business development opportunities. Working knowledge of federal tax source materials, treatises and case law. Strong tax research skills and proven ability to effectively document and support recommended tax positions. CPA, JD degree (LLM preferred) and/or Masters of Tax degree is preferred. 5+ years advising on federal tax partnership matters including direct experience advising on matters with respect to corporations and publicly traded partnerships. International Tax experience a plus.
