Trust Tax Senior Manager The candidate will manage processes to ensure the timely and accurate completion and filing of client trust and estate tax returns, estimated tax payments, processing of checks and handling of tax notices by external vendors. Will ssist on quality review of complex trust and estate tax returns. Review trust documents to determine income tax status (grantor vs. non-grantor, simple vs. Complex). Review client account documents to determine tax information reporting and withholding status. Manage processes to ensure the timely filing and furnishing of tax information reporting returns (Forms 1099, 1042-S) by external vendor for client trust and investment accounts. Quality review of tax information returns. Manage process for handling trust account tax payments and refunds. Manage process to ensure the timely and accurate completion and filing of private investment fund partnership returns by external vendor. Quality review of private investment fund partnership returns. Deal directly with clients’ attorneys, investment advisors, tax authorities and other professionals. Handle tax technical and operational questions related to client tax matters. Manage process for handling U.S. Federal and state tax notices related to client accounts. Provide overall leadership, direction, supervision, training and performance feedback to staff. Ensure that procedures and controls are established and documented, keep up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law, and update procedures accordingly.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Accounting. 8+ years of experience required, including relevant tax experience. CPA, MS in Taxation, JD and/or LLM degree in Tax preferred. Basic knowledge of tax information reporting and partnership taxation preferred. Knowledge of U.S. Federal and state tax laws and regulations required. Proficient knowledge of trust and estate tax principles required. Experience managing large projects and multiple simultaneous projects required. Prior supervisory experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Solid organizational skills required, especially the proven ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
