Tax Practice Development Lawyer The candidate will support the business by working with the clients and lawyers to maintain and develop their understanding of technical and commercial issues affecting their markets. Will be working with a practice development lawyer who is a partner and would be assisted by a paralegal providing dedicated support to the PDL team. Help in raising the profile of the tax team by spotting tax developments with marketing opportunities and helping the tax team and the firm's sector teams to exploit these. Create, manage and disseminate technical intelligence to clients and lawyers, including through the use of training, client publications and the knowledge management system. Maintain and develop key corporate tax precedents. Spot tax developments where partner could make comments in the media and work with the PR advisers to achieve this. Spot opportunities for Out-law stories and work with the Out-law team and the tax team to manage tax's out-law content. Work with the Business Development team to help to design Tax's client marketing events, briefings and presentations. Help to manage tax's website content. Support tax partners in writing articles and speaking on tax topics. Help to produce the department's client publications – including the fortnightly tax magazine. Work with the firm's sector teams to spot tax developments that can be marketed through the sectors. Work with tax partners to research technical developments which could lead to new opportunities for the department. Organise and participate in the delivery of trainee and lawyer training, including organising content for and delivering updates at the fortnightly tax update VCs. Identify and source appropriate external training for lawyers. Assist in the delivery of training to key clients, including where required suggesting topics, developing materials and delivering presentations. Create, manage and disseminate technical intelligence in a manner that supports the development of the tax business. Help to put together an internal weekly tax newsletter. Manage a range of precedent documents which promote best practice, consistency and efficiency across the Tax team – mainly focused on corporate tax. Identify and participate in knowledge sharing forums, including the City Tax PSL group. Support specialist practice areas within the Tax team e.g. tax investigations and private wealth tax in the development of knowledge materials and other resources required to support their practice.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should be a solicitor or barrister with ideally 6+ years of post-qualification fee earning experience in the area of corporate tax. Must have gained experience in a City firm or large regional practice. Must have trained with a leading City or national law firm and be focused on corporate tax. Experience of tax disputes, property tax, cross-border tax and/or private wealth tax would be an advantage.
