Manager, Tax Planning Duties: Assist in designing and implementing tax strategies and corporate transactions to ensure key tax objectives are met and are appropriately aligned with business operations. Plays an important role in the company’s US Federal, international, state, and local tax planning. Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and modeling their impact on the company; determining the tax implications of capital expenditure requests; research, writing and communication to address a variety of business related tax questions, and assisting with M&A due diligence and acquisition integrations. Assist with the implementation of planning initiatives to strategically position the Company to maximize after-tax cash flow. Help develop transaction workplans – PowerPoint skills are a plus – then work the plan through, and modify as necessary in reaction to changing dynamics. Determine and communicate the tax consequences of planned or executed transactions and other business initiatives to include tax research and drafting of memorandum or e-mail responses to our colleagues in Tax, Finance, and beyond. Develop methods to optimize the services of outside tax advisors, including attorneys, accounting firms and other tax consultants, to optimize tax positions for the company in a cost effective manner. Support the tax accounting provision process under ASC 740 and FAS 5 in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 on a quarterly basis. Collaborate with the tax accounting and tax compliance teams to ensure uncertain tax positions have been identified, quantified and documented. Review federal and state tax filings, including attached statements and elections, to ensure the Company’s tax positions are properly calculated and disclosed. Forge effective relationships with corporate support functions, stay up-to-date on the company’s business and proactively consult on tax matters/implications associated with contemplated business transactions and day-to-day operational issues. Proactively stay abreast of technical tax accounting and reporting matters, as well as current developments in legislation to ensure ongoing compliance with US federal and state and local tax laws as they impact the Company. Assist with the domestic, state and local audits. Manage IDR responses to IRS agents and identify issues and resolutions favorable to the Company. Also aid in the management of state and local income tax, sales/use or federal excise tax audits. Determine areas of tax exposure and manage associated risks. Assist in the preparation and delivery of periodic presentations to business owners, management and other members of the tax department on tax consequences of business strategies (including risk analysis, developments in tax law, reporting and compliance impacts, etc.)

Qualification and Experience

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred. Masters of Taxation or JD Degree preferred. Big 4 experience preferred. 5+ years of tax planning experience in corporate, public accounting, law firm or a combination of the three. Excellent writing skills. Good analytical and problem solving skills including spreadsheet proficiency to analyze planning concepts. Unquestionable integrity, objectivity and independence. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and effectively manage through complex issues and relationships. Highly motivated, positive attitude, self-directed and assertive. Strong interpersonal skills.
