Nonprofit Tax Manager Duties: Will work on a national team that develops the vision and strategies for the company’s nonprofit tax practice. Responsible for working on tax compliance and consulting engagements for nonprofit clients throughout North Carolina and the Southeast. Responsibilities include interacting with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; working closely with partners and managers on business development activities; and mentoring and supervising staff. Specifically, the primary responsibilities of the Nonprofit Tax Will focus on following areas of Tax Compliance; Tax Research and Consulting; Project/Task Management; Staff Supervision; and Business Development; Tax Compliance. Detail and quality reviews of returns for tax-exempt organizations, including Forms 990 and 990-T. Detail and quality reviews of returns for private foundations (Form 990-PF). Research various tax issues affecting tax-exempt organizations by using the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, rulings, case law, and other relevant authorities/guidance. Draft technical tax memoranda, client correspondence, and other various work products. Prepare exemption applications and ruling requests. Accept responsibility for, and complete tasks assigned by company management in a timely fashion. Manage multiple client projects at any given time. Develop a professional relationship with the client. Gain the respect and confidence of the client by consistently demonstrating supreme customer service, quality work products, and professional integrity. Manage staff’s activities, chargeability, and budgets. Effectively delegate work to staff. Provide regular performance feedback as well as deliver timely performance evaluations. Develop staff’s technical and industry skills and encourage growth. Participate in developing internal training courses for staff. Identify and pursue outside business contacts through social, charitable, and business organizations. Become an active participant in these networking channels. Pursue professional development through public speaking opportunities, seminar delivery, and through the writing of articles. Assist in preparing proposals and presentations.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Masters and/or J.D. degree helpful. Must be CPA certified and have an active CPA license. 4+ years of experience at a large local, regional or national public accounting firm, with a substantial dedication of time to providing nonprofit tax compliance and consulting services. Strong tax research and writing skills is essential. Superior client-serving capabilities. Ability to multi-task, including excellent project management, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
