Indirect Tax, Manager Duties: Continuous monitoring of VAT law and business development to ensure the VAT compliance process across the region is fit for purpose and updated. Coordination of VAT compliance across salesforce.com EMEA subsidiaries and branches in conjunction with external preparers and local finance teams. Implementing new / improved VAT process and procedures to mitigate compliance risk and maximize VAT recovery. Assisting the Senior EMEA Tax Manager with response to any VAT related queries raised by tax administrations (on audit or otherwise) throughout the EMEA region. Point of contact for indirect tax in EMEA. Providing support to business partners by advising on indirect tax implications of business decisions (e.g., VAT considerations with respect to transactions with customers, business expansion, events, acquisition integration, etc.). Monitoring and communicating changes in EMEA indirect tax law to relevant stakeholders. Providing annual VAT training for AP, sales teams and other internal stakeholders, as required.. Maintenance of appropriate SOX documentation and performance of key SOX controls with respect to the VAT process. Managing VAT queries for statutory audit purposes. Assisting Senior EMEA Tax Manager and other members of the international tax team based on San Francisco on M&A projects as needed. Assisting Senior EMEA Tax Manager in implementation of local tax planning initiatives.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Degree in law, accounting, or economics and post-graduate in tax or similar is ideal; AITI/ACA qualification; Prior experience with EMEA regional indirect tax responsibilities for a US multinational is ideal; Prior indirect tax experience for APAC countries and/or experience of other tax heads an advantage; Keen interest in the business (model) and how its operates; Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate indirect tax matters succinctly to management; Good knowledge of English. Any other European language is an advantage; Enjoys and thrives working with and in a cross-functional team.
