Tax Manager - National Tax - Tax Accounting & Risk Advisory Services Duties: Work with national subject matter professionals in the Tax Performance Advisory (TPA) practice. As part of the TARAS group, assists clients with people, process and technology to improve tax department performance. Works with major global non-attest clients in a collaborative environment and regularly with the most senior tax executives. Projects might include helping clients: redesign the tax provision process to be faster and more accurate, often using enabling technologies (e.g., TaxStream and CorpTax); correct controls and calculations related to material weaknesses and significant deficiencies; and improve how data is captured and maintained for tax purposes in their financial systems. You will gain experience with tax accounting and compliance activities and analyze problems to identify root causes and offer potential alternatives. Operating Strategy and Organization Design - e.g., assist the client in identifying improvement opportunities and evaluating current Tax Department roles/responsibilities and skill sets. Process and Controls Enhancement - e.g., re-design the tax provision process with enabling technologies to increase efficiency and reduce risk. Data and Systems Effectiveness - e.g., work with finance and IT teams to increase tax data quantity and quality within financial systems. Key Risks Identification, Prioritization, Monitoring and Remediation - e.g., assess tax risk and control environments inclusive of and beyond the boundaries of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and 4 years of related work experience. CPA, JD or Enrolled Agent certification. Related work experience in tax process improvement, accounting or income taxation. FAS 109 experience and/or corporate income tax compliance experience. Experience with tax software products such as CORPTax, TaxStream, Fast-Tax, Insource, etc. a plus. Experience with financial applications (e.g., Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.) a plus.
