SALT Consultant The candidate will work on or lead a number of high value state and local consulting projects, potentially including risk management/nexus/voluntary disclosures, reverse income tax audits, sales and use tax consulting/mock audits/audit defense, and credits/incentives. Responsibilities include: Lead SALT consulting projects; SALT research including knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm. Should Demonstrate proficiency in dealing with some/all the following: Reverse income tax audits; Sales/use tax issue identification/risk management/audit defense; Working on Nexus studies and voluntary disclosures; Appointment assistance/research; Sale due diligence prep (discovery and remediation of SALT issues in preparation of a business for sale); Credits/Incentives; Dispute resolution/notices/drafting correspondence or memorandum on SALT related issues; Become proficient at SALT research including knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm. Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise (“coachâ€) staff accountants. Must have Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree: CPA, JD, or LLM degree required. Must have broad background in State and Local tax – income, franchise, sales, and use. 3-5 years’ experience in a top 100 Accounting Firm preferred. 1+ years performing some SALT consulting work preferred. City tax and research expertise is preferred.
