Senior Manager, Transaction Tax Duties: Key member of the Tax Leadership Team. Responsible for scheduling, review and management of the transaction tax compliance process. Manage tax staff and serve as point person on tax projects as assigned. Responsible for ensuring group coordination in efforts to maintain the policies and programs that ensure compliance in accordance with the laws & regulations of each domestic taxing jurisdiction in which Alere and its Subsidiaries conduct business. Manage the audit process for any US state or city sales, use, property or unclaimed property tax audits and actively participate in any IRS MDET audits by providing assistance and input as necessary. This position deals with many levels of management at all of Alere’s business units, as well as external income tax auditors and agents. Demonstrate an understanding of complex transaction tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge. Manage the work of tax staff. Participate in and contribute to attaining team goals. Thoroughly and accurately analyze information. Prepare quality, practical approaches to the Alere’s tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Lead in developing recommendations and implementation plans, as well as, make informed decisions in complex and judgmental areas.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and 10 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and 7 years of related work experience. A degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field; an advanced degree in tax or law is highly desirable. 3+ years of relevant tax consulting experience or equivalent experience in business or industry. CPA certification, CMI, Member of the Bar, or foreign equivalent certification preferred. Broad exposure to state and local taxation. Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
