Senior Trial Attorney The candidate provides legal advice and representation to AIG and/or the insured in legal matters while minimizing legal and indemnity exposure. Must handle cases of the highest complexity and financial exposure. Leads legal teams within the organization. Examine reports, evidence and other relevant data to determine advisability of proceeding with litigation. Analyze probable outcomes through knowledge and research of legal precedents. Develop and execute trial and/or pre-trial strategy for most cost effective outcome. Draft legal papers, perform research, and handle project work for the office. Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insured and/or company. Advise and/or lead core and associate staff on technical issues. May also act as named Supervising Attorney (1 per office to be designated). Must have 10 years related insurance LOB trial experience (1st chair) with financial exposures in excess of 500K and/or high complexity cases. Should have strong and Effective Communications and Ability to Interact Effectively with Clients, Claims Peers, and Senior Leadership. J.D. Required. Must be admitted and able to practice Law in 1 or more Jurisdiction. Must have detailed knowledge of local statutes, regulations and case law; ability to develop manage and monitor pre trial and trial strategies; knowledge of rules of evidence, court rules and procedures. Should have ability to develop pre-trial and trial strategies; knowledge of rules of evidence, court rules and procedures; ability to advise core and associate staff on technical issues; ability to litigate the most complex cases in the specified jurisdiction.
