Profile

Senior Counsel – IP ( Software) Candidate will be responsible for transactional work with a focus on Software and IP, managing Intellectual Property ("IP") procurement, and IP monetization and licensing activities. Will lead and manage a complete range of intellectual property issues for company's Transportation, including all patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, licensing matters, with an emphasis on software and information technology areas. Candidate will manage all IP aspects of one or more sub-business groups. Will work in areas related to IP, such as software agreements, IP licenses / transfers, BD or M&A deals (at least regarding IP issues: transfers / licenses), IP liability and indemnification issues, and intercompany agreements regarding the sharing of IP across company's legal entities. Address IP and legal issues regarding software and IT development, and data privacy / data security. Provide client-centric counseling, and lead, anticipate, and drive solutions for diverse legal and business issues (both domestic and international) and growth initiatives across company's Transportation. Collaborate with business units, finance and sales teams to ensure that transaction terms and patent claims are consistent with business objectives and management priorities. Work closely with other lawyers in solving mixed intellectual property / general legal problems. Procure and manage IP to impact the bottom-line. Supervise outside counsel patent procurement activities, but can self-author a patent application, including an impactful claim set. Handle difficult situations, multiple projects, and timely solve problems creatively in a fast paced work setting with minimal supervision. Establish, educate, train and promote lean IP practices and procedures throughout GET to create, protect, administer and derive value from IP rights. Will report to the Executive Counsel - IP.

Qualification and Experience

Candidate should have JD Degree from an accredited university or college and 5+ years of experience in Intellectual Property law. Must be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
