Counsel, Real Estate The candidate will report to the Senior Counsel, Real Estate and Default Management Services. Will partner with Asset Management, Default Management, Brokerage and related Mortgage Services business unit leaders to maintain legal oversight, training, and compliant operations. Provide broad legal subject matter expertise on real estate, corporate governance, contracting and compliance requirements. Manage real estate transaction issues for the business units. Drafting legal documents, policies and procedures for business units. Work with compliance staff to manage and track business unit risks as well as maintain positive relationships with regulatory authorities. Assist in developing corporate documents, minutes, filings, presentations, etc.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school, top 25% of class. Should be a member in good standing of the State Bar in one state in the US. Should have 5-8 years of experience as attorney in law firm or as in house counsel. Must have a broad range of legal expertise, experience and practical knowledge in real estate law, corporate law, RESPA, corporate contracting and compliance. Experience with loan servicing, default management/foreclosure or residential real estate law preferred.
