Attorney Duties: The candidate will initially under close supervision of the Assistant Chief Counsel and Deputy General Counsel the Attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice and review for a variety of loan and grant programs of average difficulty, asset management and compliance resolution programs, including the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation and preservation of transitional, supportive, and affordable rental housing. Also represent the State's interest in closing/restructuring/refinancing and workouts of a multi-billion dollar loan portfolio. Interacts on an ongoing basis with the Division of Financial Assistance staff, Deputy Directors and supervisors, and the Office of the Attorney General. Will interact on an ongoing basis with program staff, supervisors, managers and deputy directors. Interact with counsel representing borrowers and lenders on HCD projects. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for advising the Department in sensitive matters related to its various loan programs.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Require active membership in The California State Bar. (Applicants who are not members of The California State Bar but who are eligible to take the California State Bar examination or are in their final year of law school will be admitted to the examination but will not be considered eligible for appointment until they are admitted to The State Bar.)
