ProfileTitle Attorney/Abstractor Responsibilities Examine and draft abstract reports of real estate title records from local courthouses as well as online. Ensure that title to a property is marketable and insurable, and identify all clouds that would affect marketability. Demonstrate a quick turnaround with complete and accurate reports. Travel to/from Courthouses to perform abstracts, record documents, dropoff/pickup documents, and the like. Assists our Title Department with solving claims, clouds on title, and may serve as back up for the production of title products. For Attorney applicants (all of the above plus): Would also be employed by The Holfinger Stevenson Law Firm on a part-time basis to assist our firm with legal matters in Jackson and surrounding Counties. Represent buyers, sellers, lenders, etc., to provide real estate counsel and draft documents needed to resolve real estate title defects. Preside over real estate closings/settlements as the Notary, on behalf of Northwest Title.
Qualification and Experience
For Attorney: JD Degree from an accredited law school required. Currently licensed as an attorney in the state of Ohio. Moderate amount of experience practicing law, operating a law firm, or performing real estate title examinations. Relevant experience in real estate related industry required, and prior experience with real estate title abstracts strongly preferred. Work independently and analyze information. Strong computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Office. Strong academic record and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Critical thinking and analytical skills.
