ProfileLegal Counsel, Commercial Real Estate The candidate will draft and negotiate company’s various commercial leases (such as for company stores, service centers, Supercharger, and other commercial properties) and assist in maintaining and growing company’s real property portfolio. Will be expected to build positive client relationships with diplomacy and provide insightful and timely counsel. Directly handle commercial real estate matters for company. Draft and negotiate commercial real estate leases and purchase agreements. Manage review and preparation of lease agreements and other ancillary real estate documents (SNDAs, estoppels, etc.). Work closely with business teams to manage legal and contractual compliance for all company properties, including permits, licenses, approvals, insurance, inspection and other legal requirements (e.g., zoning variances, building codes, ADA). Draft and negotiate service agreements. Handle disputes with landlords, contractors, tenants and/or subtenants. Manage and review reports and other due diligence materials related to potential title and environmental liabilities.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. with excellent academic credentials and top-tier law firm experience or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability. Admission to California Bar preferred, active status required. Must have experience negotiating leases and purchase agreements, preferably for commercial retail and industrial properties. Should have 3 years of legal experience as a commercial real estate attorney, preferably with the majority of that experience handling commercial leasing and real property acquisition matters. Skills: Strong drafting and analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
