Associate Legal Counsel - EU Responsibilities: Will report to Senior Legal Counsel. Will support various departments throughout the Company, including Human Resources, Payroll, Compensation and Benefits, Store Operations, Asset Protection, and Marketing. Will primarily provide legal support for labor matters in Italy, Will also be expected to work on a variety of non-labor matters such as data privacy, marketing and other areas as needed. Provide ongoing legal support and counsel in the areas of human resources, store operations, health and safety, data privacy and others to ensure compliance with local law. Partner with the Human Resources team in managing the relationships with trade unions, including participating in any union negotiations that may arise. Partner with the Human Resources team in managing the relationships with labor inspectors, including attending meetings with labor inspectors and drafting communication to labor inspectors. Partner with the Human Resources team in managing the relationships with works councils and other elected associate representatives, including support for the regular meetings and future elections. Conduct legal research on current and new laws, related to the subject matters described above. Assist with the management of litigation and administrative matters. Appear before governmental or administrative bodies and attend court appearances where necessary. Draft responses to associate or attorney dispute letters. Assist with local governmental filing and regulatory requirements in various areas. Partner with various departments to create, maintain and update company policies. Manage various legal and compliance projects. Audit existing Company practices for compliance with legal requirements. Provide training to various departments throughout the company. Travel as needed both within Europe and to the U.S. or other international locations. Work with legal team colleagues based in the U.S. on various issues as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: The candidate must be certified to practice law in Spain or Italy. 3+ years of (post-trainee) of labor law experience, preferably in an in-house environment. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to juggle a varied and demanding workload and to manage competing priorities and deadlines within a dynamic work environment. Must be a creative thinker, open-minded. Fluency in English, Italian AND Spanish required; fluency in additional languages such as French, Dutch and/or German preferred. International travel is required.
