Privacy Attorney The candidate will provide structured, privacy, and compliance insights to commercial healthcare providers and life sciences clients. Leverage experience with privacy and security and apply the firm's methodologies and tools to assess health industry clients, including providers, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, PBMs, retail pharmacies, and third parties servicing healthcare in development and deployment of privacy, security, and Cyber programs. Work with Booz Allen's health analytics practice to assist clients with planning and implementing initiatives related to Big Data, Cloud, mobile, social, electronic health and public health records, meaningful use, informatics, and other emerging health-related information uses. Conduct privacy and security compliance assessments, including HIPAA privacy and security rules, HITECH Act, Omnibus Rule, and US federal, state, and international laws and regulations and determine potential compliance risks at the corporate and departmental levels. Assess security and Cybersecurity risks, develop security, Cybersecurity, and breach and incident response programs, and design and implement data access, protection, monitoring, and breach and incident response solutions and controls. Design approaches and deliver solutions to clients that want to aggressively engage the use of informatics and data with the right level of data protection and compliance. Assist companies with preparing for certification under the EU, Swiss, or APEC Safe Harbor Programs for EU, Swiss, or APEC to US transfers or access to EU, Swiss, or APEC citizen personal information, audit privacy policies and procedures, and recommend improvements to reinforce adherence.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have BA or BS degree. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) Certification is needed. MBA, MPP, MPA, MPH, MPM, or MCS degree preferred; J.D. degree a plus. Must have experience with legal, technical, healthcare, or project management in an academic environment. Should have 5+ years of experience with leading provider, payer, or pharmaceutical firms in privacy, security, Cybersecurity, or incident response programs. Must have experience with consulting or industry focusing on a broad range of privacy, security, Cybersecurity, and incident response. Knowledge of privacy programs related to US federal, state, or international laws, including HIPAA, HITECH, MA 201, or EU DPD in the provider, payer, pharmaceutical, or another health-related industry is needed. Must have ability to write reports describing compliance issues. Ability to research and analyze pertinent client, industry, and technical matters are needed. Must have ability to interact with various levels of client and firm management in written and oral formats.
