ProfileSenior Patent Counsel Duties: Developing and executing clear, informed, and sophisticated intellectual property strategies and counseling clients engaged in its platform technology and therapeutic product development functions. Advising the Vice President of Legal and management team regarding company's multi-faceted gene editing intellectual property portfolio. Providing legal opinions regarding patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate. Managing a portion of company's substantial patent portfolio, including preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent filings. Leading intellectual property due diligence to support business development transactions and company financings. Proposing and negotiating intellectual property provisions in various agreements. Managing external relationships with outside patent counsel, collaborators, and business partners.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree and admission to at least one state Bar and the patent Bar. PhD in Molecular Biology (or a closely related field). Biologics patent experience, preferably 12+ years' experience. Experience in both law firm and in-house biopharmaceutical/biotech company settings. Track record of successful patent portfolio development as well as execution and management of strategic partnerships and alliances.
