Great position for a part time commercial leasing and real estate attorney. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Real Estate professional to do sophisticated legal work while still maintaining work life balance in a corporate law department setting. This is not a temporary or contract position, but a steady position with a 25-30 hour per week schedule. This position is for an experienced Shopping Center Lease Specialist who will represent the Company in the acquisition and leasing of real estate. The attorney must be familiar with anchor and/or junior anchor tenant leasing as well as the negotiation of all collateral documents such as guaranty, recognition and non-disturbance agreements and estoppels. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Shopping center lease specialist responsible for all aspects of the negotiation and documentation of shopping center leases for retail company, inclusive of examination and resolution of title and environmental issues, deed, easement and restrictive covenant issues, and mortgage and title issues. Attorney must be adept at negotiating and drafting of anchor and junior anchor leases, subleases, waivers, restrictions, and collateral documents such as guaranty, recognition and non-disturbance agreements and estoppels. Must be able to take a deal from the letter of intent stage to closing and store opening. Experience with a variety of facilities required, including, without limitation, shopping centers, enclosed and exterior malls, urban locations, strip centers and stand alone store locations. Manage internal and external deal processes and drive continuous improvements and scalability in deal processes and execution. Plan and coordinate due diligence reviews. Advise Sr. Management on legal risks and recommend practical plans for managing those risks. Liaise with other attorneys, outside counsel, government and municipal officials and internal departments. Education: JD from ABA-accredited law school. Licenses/Certification/Registration: Member of a State Bar and ability to obtain New Jersey in-house certification if not admitted in New Jersey. Experience: Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in negotiating and documenting shopping center leases. Emphasis on anchor and junior anchor retail leasing on a national scale. Experience in a large law firm or corporate setting for a major retailer or shopping center REIT preferred. Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks independently and without significant supervision. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
