Paralegal / Legal Assistant I The candidate works under the direction of the Project Manager. Performs a variety of administrative and legal tasks that include: providing filing and records management support to assigned staff; performing legal research and supports the preparation of legal documents for assigned staff; arranging meetings and managing assigned staff schedules; screening calls and visitors; and routinely providing back-up support to front office legal administrative staff. Supporting leadership staff as well as the Executive Officer and legal administrative team in a variety of administrative and legal tasks; responding to administrative data calls and reviewing and processing incoming documents for action as directed. Performs simple legal research; proof-reads and cite checks legal documents such as briefs and memoranda; works with the administrative staff to assist in supporting tasks from assigned personnel; supports staff and leadership personnel in proofreading, formatting, drafting and/or assembling Tables of Authority, Appendices, argument binders, and providing legal research and other administrative and legal tasks as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have paralegal certificate or law degree (J.D.). Must have 1+ year of litigation paralegal experience. Trial experience is very helpful. Automated litigation support experience valued. Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
