Paralegal The candidate will provide support and assistance to Attorneys in the form of basic-to-difficult legal research, draft legal documents and business communications, and perform administrative work. Will assist with electronic and other discovery in legal and regulatory proceedings, including conducting interviews with document custodians, performing physical and electronic collection of relevant documents, working with in-house and outside counsel, and working with electronic discovery vendors. Maintain litigation, licensing, settlement, and other related files, including updating and maintaining internal shared and secure document repositories. Maintain litigation calendars, calculate litigation-related response dates, and ensure timely responses to discovery requests, legal notices, and subpoenas. Perform legal and other research utilizing legal, corporate, and patent databases such as Lexis, Courtlink, PACER, and USPTO databases. Assists with collection and production of documents. Organizes documents required in connection with regulatory or legal proceedings. Performs legal research using provided resources. Conducts fact gathering interviews and documents research. Maintains litigation and regulatory proceedings database. Researches and summarizes laws, cases, and files; presents a synopsis to the Attorney for use in preparation for trial or responding to a legal issue. Ensures timely responses to legal notices and subpoenas. Receives service of process and coordinates timely assignment of cases to outside counsel. Prepares legal documents and business communications. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Paralegal certificate or comparable formal legal training preferred. Must have 4-5 years of litigation or related experience, preferably with a medium or large law firm and/or a corporation. Significant experience with electronic and other discovery efforts, processes and technologies essential. Experience with patent litigation a strong plus. Exposure to the communications, entertainment, and/or multimedia businesses and technologies utilized therein a plus (e.g., high speed Internet access, VoIP telephony, and digital video television) essential.
