Paralegal Operations Group The candidate gathers factual information relative to operations issues, providing general assistance to attorneys, and prepares summaries of factual findings, investigations, legal research, and/or sequential and chronological events for attorneys; researches statutes, regulations, and court decisions; drafts, reviews and redlines contracts and other legal documents; provide contract summaries to attorneys; strategic and accurate summary of investigations and fact-finding. Evaluates incoming documentation and data and determines appropriate steps needed for compliance, and implements strategy after consultation with responsible attorney; prepares administrative agency and regulatory filings, tracks status and follows through on assigned matters or projects, reviews documents for production; handles general inquiries relating to matter status and/or acts in a liaison relationship within the organization to facilitate efficient workflow in legal matters or projects, and may undertake basic legal work and prepare reports or draft correspondence; maintains a thorough understanding of all aspects of the department’s work and its context in the organization as a whole, and maintains an awareness of, and stays up to date with changes in laws and procedures, specifically relating to retail operations practice area(s); works with various Company departments regarding procedures, processes and/or projects related to legal matters, as required and appropriate to obtain information and data, and to ensure adherence to legal requirements; may provide back-up support to other Paralegals.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have College education or comparable paralegal experience is required; paralegal certificate from ABA accredited paralegal program is preferred; experience in an in-house legal department or corporate department of a law firm required; retail experience is preferred; regulatory compliance experience preferred; proficiency in legal research, legal writing, effective communication and summary reporting; strong multi-tasking, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and use of collaborative solutions in handling issues or tasks; versatility in dealing with legal staff and handling assignments; proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook required; experience with iManage preferred.
